History
Rancho Vista church was founded when a group of 25 friends determined that God was leading them to begin a new ministry in the Chula Vista area. An exhaustive search was conducted to determine how to best accomplish this task. Through various means this group felt led to align itself with the Evangelical Covenant church. This move was done primarily because of the expertise and success of the Covenant Church in planting new churches, and its emphasis on the Bible as the sole fondation of faith. It is our belief that outside accountability is a healthy thing for any church.
After much planning and preperation we held our Grand Opening on September 22nd, 2002 at Eastlake Elementary School. In spring of 2004 we were blessed with the opportunity to move into the beautiful new Otay Ranch High School Theater. Although we are a young church, we have already established some traditions:
Kids Matter A LOT to our church
We value creative ways of sharing Christ’s message. (we actually have an annual event called “The Gospel According to The Beatles” that shares Christ’s message using the multi-media and the music of the Beatles).
- We eat food together often!
- We enjoy gathering in homes for Bible study and prayer.
- We think that God has a sense of Humor, and that “Laughter doth that heart good, like medicine”. (If you dont believe us – look at an Armadillo some time).
- We believe that reaching out to our community is not only important, it is essential.
That is why in past years we have…
- hosted the “Chula Vista Community Fest”,
- given away beverages at sporting events,
- hosted an annual breakfast to benefit the Otay Ranch High School Band,
- thrown an annual July 4th celebration that involved a crazy guy named Buzz sky diving into a park with a 1,500 sq. ft. American flag!
- Traveled to a children’s home in Ensenada Mexico to support a children’s home.
We hope that you will stop by sometime and check out our church. We would love to have you become a part of the exciting things that The Lord has done through our Rancho Vista.
