The Prodigal God
The Prodigal God
There is nothing like the power of a good story to transport us to another world. Some stories carry a delightful weightiness which can deliver us back to the real world with a deep sense of satisfaction and a suspicion that we’ve lost something valuable on the return trip. So back into the story we must go. Again and again.
The parable about a father who had two sons, as found in the gospel of Luke, is one such story. For millennia, people from every part of the earth have traveled there and back again, finding comfort, hope, and – if they’re really paying attention – offense. Because this father is unlike other fathers, and these two sons are startlingly like ourselves, no matter our gender, age or culture.

On Location
When you stop to consider the decaying moral and ethical climate in our culture and in our world, you may be tempted to wonder, “Is there any hope? Will things ever improve?” Two thousand years ago Jesus addressed a handful of men and women who had the same questions, doubts, and fears. Imagine their surprise when he announced, “You are the salt of the earth…You are the light of the world.” Translated, you have been strategically placed by God to preserve culture and illuminate God’s will for man. In this four-part series, we will unpack what it means to be salt and light on location; where we live, work, and play.
