Lifegroups

We believe strongly that the Christian journey was meant to be shared. That is what lifegroups are all about—connecting people in friendship and in purpose. Our adult groups gather at locations and times in the Chula Vista area throughout the week. Groups cover a variety of topics, so there is a fit for every schedule and lifestyle. We are excited for you to join us and experience the reward of Christian growth, encouragement, and fun.

For information about lifegroups or for assistance in choosing the best fit for you, contact us via “join a group” on this page or contact John Rose @ (619) 540-1221 or e-mail: johnr@ranchovistachurch.com.

I have a busy schedule; why should I make time for a Life Group?

Small Groups at Rancho Vista are called Life Groups. Life Groups are where people are able to grow in their faith in a small group setting. It is a place where people can know others and be known by others, where they can pray and be prayed for, encourage and be encouraged.
Life is extremely difficult and draining. We were never meant to “do life” alone. We were designed to walk with each other, to grow with one another and to serve God together. We are convinced at Rancho Vista that everyone needs the support and encouragement of other people. Everyone needs community.
While it can be easy to slip in and out or hide during Sunday morning worship; Life Groups create an environment to actually be known by 8-12 people. Through these relationships, we mutually challenge and encourage one another in our faith.

That’s what Rancho Vista Church Life Groups are all about. Consider joining one today.

What Can I Expect?

The great thing about Life Groups is that they are all different, but have the same goal and purpose. They exist to help people grow in their faith by fostering an environment of encouragement, challenge, support and love. The format and atmosphere for each group will be different depending on the leader and the people in the group. Here are some things you can expect about Life Groups:

  • Expect to Laugh: having fun and enjoying life is part of the spiritual journey.
  • Expect to Grow: we want to encourage people in their future spiritual steps
  • Expect to be Loved: we will not make you feel judged, criticized or stupid. We are all works in progress.
  • Expect to become Servants: our mission is to know God, grow in our relationship with God and to serve God. Opportunities to serve are always available.

FAQS:

Should I bring my Bible?
Yes. We always like to spend time together reading scripture. Not every group will spend a large amount of time in the in the Bible, but come expecting to learn and expecting to grow.

What should I wear?
Dress casual. Wear something comfortable. Remember it is about doing life together, not impressing one another.

How long will it last?
Every group is different, but most groups meet for about an hour and half each week.

If I go to a group and don’t enjoy it, do I have to stay in that group?
No. Our Life Group system is set up like a semester system which gives everyone the opportunity to change. We will find the best place for you. Don’t worry about it, let us help you get in the right group that fits your personality and needs.

Do I have to be a Bible whiz to be in a group?
Absolutely not. We are growing together. It is not about how much you know, but rather about how God is working in your life. Remember, we are all works in progress. The aim is not information, but transformation.

Does it costs money to be in a group?
It usually does not cost money to be in a group, occasionally there might be a cost for a book. Leaders accept tips… Just Kidding!

What do you love to do?

Do you enjoy getting out into nature? Can you spend hours studying scripture? Are you longing to serve the poor and outcast of the community? Do you enjoy fellowship and good food?  If so, there is more than likely a Life Group waiting for you. In a Life Group you can know and be known by others, you can pray and be prayed for, you can support and be supported.
